CHILDREN?S RESIDENTIAL RESPITE HOUSE, ENNIS, CO CLARE

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POST:

To provide residential respite to families of children and young
adults with disabilities in Clare. The residential support service
will be coordinated by the RRM, who will prioritise families to be
involved in the service, who agrees with each family the type and
level of support to be provided. The Nurse will be supervised by and
work closely with the RRM. In order to provide a flexible support
service, the Nurse will be required to work during evenings and
weekends.

OVERVIEW OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* To work with service owners, and families as agreed with the RRM.
As family needs will change from time to time, the Nurse will work
closely with the RRM to ensure that the residential respite service
offered meets changing family needs.
* In agreement with the RRM to liaise with other relevant personnel
in relation to individual service owners and families.
* To take part in induction training or other in-service training
relevant to the position.
* The Nurse will work with service users in a range of settings
including the local community or other community settings. At all
times the Nurse will be responsible for the safety and welfare of
service owner in his or her care.
* The Nurse will be expected to display appropriate sensitivity
while working closely with families.
* Maintaining a Code of Confidentiality and discretion in all
dealings with service owners, their families and with staff.
* Providing assistance to service owners in areas of personal care.
* Administration of Medication to service owners as per treatment
plan.
* To carry out vaccination of both service owners/users and staff as
required.
* Providing assistance to service owners with Therapy Programmes.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

_ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:_

* Have a nursing RGN/RCN/RNID qualification validated for working in
the Republic of Ireland
* Have current Registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of
Ireland (NMBI)
* Experience of working in a person centred health or social care
setting
* Have such experience as will enable him/her to provide nursing
duties as required
* Possess a full clean driving license.

_DESIRABLE CRITERIA_

* Have a minimum of 1 years post registration experience
* ?D1? license an advantage or be prepared to obtain a ?D?
or ?D1? license
* Experience of working with adults or children with disabilities
desirable.
* Experience of working within a residential/respite setting an
advantage
